So as this week comes to a close, we realize that we are down to the wire. The painted mural is in a good spot just needing touch ups at this point. The sculptural mural, on the other hand, is still in pieces waiting to dry and be put together. Everyone has pieces to work on this weekend...it's crunch time people. The end is near, and though we may be tired and weary of papier mache, we press on. Only 3 more class days until the reception...work like you've never worked before.

Catching up
So I'm a few days behind in posting. We are moving right along and planning on finishing Team Bonsai's mural by the end of the week! This is excellent because we can start to focus all of our muscle on the beast that is Team Group's project. Our days are consumed with papier mache! I know from the images it seems like nothing is happening on the sculptural piece, but I assure you, things are moving! We are getting ready to start assembling the elements into their designated sections, which will then be ready for painting and wall application! Here are a few images...

Day 3
Day 3 is coming to a close and we are still trucking along. Significant progress is being made on the painting side, and Team Group's sculptural mural is underway. The folks at Home Depot are starting ro recognize Giovanni and myself...not sure if that's a good thing. Working outside on the sculptural elements is hot hot hot. Hopefully we can move indoors on those pieces soon. We are having to reassess our approach on some of the pieces and will be testing out some new ideas tomorrow. Motivated!

And so it continues...
Day 2 is coming to a close and it did not disappoint. We completed the wall drawing of Team Group's sculptural mural and will be starting production of all the elements tomorrow...should be an exciting challenge. The Bonsai mural is coming along swimmingly, but there is still quite a bit of work to be done. Everyone has gone for the day, hopefully resting up for a big day of work tomorrow! :) Here are some more progress pics...good job everyone!

And so it begins
Today was our first official workday, and boy was it fantastic! After 2 weeks of design work and a crash course in mural history, we finally got to get to work on the walls. The two mural designs chosen were developed by Group A (aka Team Group), and Team Bonsai. The plan for today was to get grids on both walls and start part of one drawing. Turns out our class is super awesome and not only completed the 2 grids but also the entire Bonsai drawing. Woo. I was really pleased with how well everyone came together and worked as a team, it was really exciting. The drawing is pretty much ready to go! We will be in the Art Building on the 1st floor from 12-4 Monday through Thursday for the next few weeks so feel free to stop by and check out what we're doing and ask us questions.
